Ayn Rand was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1905, moved to the United States in 1926, and became a U.S. citizen five years later. In addition to four novels and many works of nonfiction, she wrote a mystery play, The Night of January 16th, which ran on Broadway in 1935. She died in 1982.
